PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to review the current management of macular hole retinal detachment in highly myopic eyes. METHODS: We searched English MEDLINE databases from January 1997 to January 2011 for surgical management of macular hole retinal detachment in highly myopic eyes. The main outcomes reported include retinal reattachment and visual acuity after primary surgery. Purpose To measure the endotoxin concentration (EC) of 25 commercially available, hyaluronic acid- and hydroxypropylmethylcellulose-based (HPMC) ophthalmic viscosurgical devices (OVDs). Methods The in vitro Limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) assay, which indicates the presence of endotoxins originating from gram-negative bacteria, was used to determine the EC. Current advances in ocular surgery require the evaluation of differences in automated white-to-white (WTW) measurements between systems. We aim to analyze three different commonly used devices in clinical practice: the IOLMaster 700, the Atlas 9000, and the Sirius.Ninety right eyes of ninety healthy subjects were included. Measurements of WTW distances were taken with each device for all subjects in the same session and by the same observer.
